Annual Day 2008

Akshar Bharati celebrated its first annual day on 26th April 2008 (Saturday).

We had a short but sweet get together at Symantec’s Godrej office's cafeteria. All our volunteers, NGO representatives, guests and enthusiastic, excited small children who are benefited from our projects were present along with the anchors Rodney Martis and Prashant Kulkarni.

Mr. Raviji Iyer from Seva International was our esteemed chief guest.
Raviji has traveled across many countries to spread the Seva work. He appreciated the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) that AB volunteers have shown. While telling various experiences from his rich Seva life he also told how the CSR concept was originated by a great Indian, Swami Vivekananda.

After Raviji’s speech Mr. Anurag Agarwal of Akshar Bharati presented an audiovisual presentation where he explained What,Why, Where and How AB is.

Next we kick started the main attraction of this evening - the performances of the benefited kids. The drama delivering the message of integrity and unity, various dances that were taught to them by Shiamak Davar, and finally the song “Hum Honge Kamyab”, won the hearts of all the viewers those were present there.

All the AB chapters presented their reports. Mr. Shailesh Ghatpande, Sectretory, Seva Sahayog, Pune, concluded with the vote of thanks.

The typical set of book which AB libraries contain was displayed as specimen in the hall.
As soon as the speeches got over, kids attacked that table and everybody actually saw what “spreading the joy through reading” means! The evening ended on a sweet note of Gulab Jamuns which were served along with pav bhaji and samosas! Everybody steped out with the determination to do their bit to make the AB plant a big tree!
